About this course

This course will introduce students to the intellectual history, and the various political expressions, of the authoritarian Right. Furthermore, it will examine some of the impact of these ideas in the current political landscape, with an emphasis in the United States.

Prerequisite Courses and Knowledge

Students must have completed either Objectivism Through Ayn Rand’s Fiction Part I and Part II, or The Philosophy of Objectivism, Part I.

Instructors

Nikos Sotirakopoulos

Dr. Sotirakopoulos is a visiting fellow at the Ayn Rand Institute. Dr. Sotirakopoulos received his PhD in political sociology from University of Kent in the UK, and before joining ARU he taught in UK universities for 10 years. He has written two books: The Rise of Lifestyle Activism: from New Left to Occupy, and Identity Politics and Tribalism: the New Culture Wars.
